The Office of the Chancellor of Justice
The Office of the Chancellor of Justice prepares matters to be decided on by the Chancellor of Justice.
The Office of the Chancellor of Justice is run by the Chancellor of Justice. The Secretary General manages the internal operations of the Office, and oversees its performance and development.
The Office of the Chancellor of Justice comprises three separate departments: the Department for Government Affairs, the Department for Legal Supervision, and the Administrative Unit.
The Department for Government Affairs deals with matters and complaints related to the supervision of the Government, and matters concerning the supervision of advocates, public legal aid attorneys and licensed attorneys. Additionally, the Department handles international matters as well as issues related to the preparation of EU affairs on the national level.
The Department for Legal Supervision investigates complaints filed with the Chancellor of Justice, oversees the courts of law and deals with other matters concerning the supervision of lawfulness that do not fall within the sphere of activities of the Department for Government Affairs. The Department for Legal Supervision also deals with actions against officials of the judiciary system, the matters arising from the review of penal judgments, and matters concerning extraordinary appeals.
The Administrative Unit deals with the internal administration and financial affairs of the Office, matters related to personnel training, the edition of the Chancellor of Justice’s report, and issues related to information and media services.
The head of each of the departments is assigned the task of managing and developing the activities of the department in question and ensuring its performance. The Secretary General is the head of the Administrative Unit.
The Office of the Chancellor of Justice employs 34 people. The staff is divided into personnel categories as follows:
